Our story

How tank cleaning became a trade in Karachi

Before 2004, nobody in Karachi offered tank cleaning as a service of its own. When a tank needed attention, people called whoever was available: a plumber, a sweeper, the building’s janitorial staff, or a pest control company doing it on the side. The work was done with a bucket and a brush, the sludge usually went down the outlet pipe, and nobody thought about what it meant to climb into a closed underground tank.

Mateen Khan started Khan Tank Cleaning in August 2004 to do this one job properly. That meant a set procedure for every tank, the right equipment for draining and removing sludge, proper disinfection, and treating the underground tank as the dangerous confined space it is.

Since then the company has cleaned more than 10,000 tanks: family homes, apartment buildings, hotels, universities, hospitals, banks and factories. Over the years, people who learned the trade with us have gone on to start companies of their own, and Karachi now has a whole industry where there was none. We are proud of that history, and it is why so many customers still ask for Khan Tank Cleaning by name.

Underground tanks are ventilated before entry and someone always stays at the opening. Large tanks get the full confined-space kit. No job is worth a life.

The full job, every time

Drain, remove the sludge, wash and scrub, disinfect with chlorine, rinse. We do not skip steps to finish sooner.

Clear prices

Our rates are published. The price you are quoted is the price you pay, and you pay only after checking the tank.
