Water tank cleaning in Scheme 33, Karachi

Scheme 33 stretches along the Super Highway with more than fifty sectors and hundreds of housing societies, from Gulzar-e-Hijri to Saadi Town. Most homes here are houses and flat buildings that rely heavily on tankers — and tanker water fills a tank with silt faster than anything else. We clean house, flat, school and shop tanks across the scheme.

Tanker water and your tank

Ask anyone in Gulzar-e-Hijri about water and the answer is usually the same: the line supply is not enough, so the house runs on tankers. Residents write to the newspapers about erratic deliveries and inflated tanker prices. What they write about less is what that water does to the tank.

A tanker load can come from a different source each time, and much of it carries more silt and sand than mains water. That sediment settles on the floor of the underground tank, gets stirred up every time the next load pours in, and is pumped straight up to the overhead tank and your taps. Within a few months there is a soft layer of sludge on the floor and a slippery film on the walls — the conditions bacteria like best.

So in Scheme 33 the useful rule is simple: if your house relies mostly on tankers, clean both tanks every three to four months, and always clean the underground tank, not just the one on the roof.

Questions

Tank cleaning in Scheme 33: common questions

How much does water tank cleaning cost in Scheme 33?

For a house, both tanks together cost Rs 4,500 for 120 sq yd, Rs 5,000 for 240 sq yd and Rs 7,000 for 400 sq yd. A single tank starts at Rs 2,500. Flat buildings, schools, clinics and commercial sites get a free survey and a written price. The full list is on our price page.

Which branch covers Scheme 33?

Our Gulshan-e-Iqbal branch, on 0340 2717530, at Block 16, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. It is the nearer of our two branches for Gulzar-e-Hijri and the Scheme 33 societies, and it answers 24 hours a day.

We get most of our water from tankers. How often should we clean the tank?

Every three to four months. Tanker water often comes from more than one source and carries more silt than mains water, so sediment builds up faster. If the water looks cloudy after a delivery, or the tank floor feels gritty, it is due.

We have just moved into a new house. Does a new tank need cleaning?

Yes, before you start using it. A tank in a newly built house usually still has cement dust, sand and construction debris inside, and it may have been filled with construction water. One clean before you move in is worth it.

Can you clean the tank for a whole flat building?

Yes. We survey the shared tanks, give the committee one written price with the per-flat amount worked out, schedule the job around the building’s water timing, and invoice the society.

Do you clean tanks for schools, clinics and colleges?

Yes. Schools, colleges, clinics and hospitals are quoted after a free survey, cleaned out of hours where needed, and given a tax invoice and, if required, service documentation.
